What is Acetylacetone/2,4-Pentanedione?
Acetyl Acetone, also known as 2,4-Pentanedione, is an organic compound, chemical formula C5H8O2, colorless to slightly yellow transparent liquid, slightly soluble in water, can be miscible with ethanol, ether, chloroform, acetone, ice acetic acid and other organic solvents, mainly used as solvent, extraction agent, can also be used in the preparation of gasoline additives, lubricants, fungicides, insecticides, dyes and so on.
Uses:
1.Acetylacetone is used as a solvent for cellulose acetate and other polymers.
2.It can chelate with metal ions such as cobalt, beryllium, aluminum, chromium and iron to form metal chelates, which are widely used as additives in fuel oil and lubricants.
3.2,4-Pentanedione (Acetyl Acetone ) is an important intermediate in the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and flavors.
4. It can be used as a drying agent for paints and varnishes.
5.Used as an analytical reagent for the colorimetric determination of iron and fluorine and the determination of thallium in the presence of carbon disulfide.
