Triisobutyl Phosphate is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with low volatility and solubility. It is stable at room temperature but undergoes decomposition reactions when exposed to heat or light. It has low water solubility but is miscible with many organic solvents.

Triisobutyl Phosphate uses

TIBP is a common solvent used in the production of defoamers, hydraulic fluids, extractants and plastics. It is suitable for use as a plasticizer for cellulose acetate, chlorinated rubber and polyvinyl chloride, as an extractant for rare metals, as a solvent for paints, dyes and adhesives, as an antifoam agent and as an antistatic agent. It is also used as a concrete additive, glue and adhesive in construction and oil fields, and in drilling mud.
