O-xylene is an aromatic hydrocarbon with the formula C8H10, with two methyl substituents bonded to adjacent carbon atoms of a benzene ring. It is a constitutional isomer of m-xylene and p-xylene, the mixture being called xylene or xylenes. It is a colourless slightly oily flammable liquid.

Uses
- Production of phthalic anhydride: About 90% of o-xylene is used to produce phthalic anhydride (phthalic anhydride, PA).
- As a solvent: It can be used in paint, ink, adhesive and other industries as a solvent to dissolve resins, pigments and other components; it can also be used for cleaning after photoresist process.
- Synthesis of other compounds: O-xylene is the raw material for the synthesis of dyes, pesticides, drugs (such as vitamins, etc.).
