Uses
- Gasoline additive: Methyl tert-butyl ether is mainly used to increase the octane number of gasoline and improve the anti-knock performance of gasoline. It can replace harmful additives such as tetraethyl lead and reduce the emission of pollutants such as carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons in the exhaust of automobiles.
- Chemical Raw Material: Methyl tert-butyl ether is also an important chemical raw material, which can be used to produce organic compounds such as isobutene and tert-butanol.
