What is Isohexadecane/2-Methylpentadecane?

Isohexadecane is an organic compound. It is a colorless, odorless, flammable liquid and a colorless, transparent oily substance at room temperature.
It is also commonly used in the petroleum industry as a highly effective lubricant and solvent, and can be used to reduce friction and minimize the use of lubricants.

Isohexadecane is used as a softener and solvent in cosmetics to add texture to products. It is insoluble in water and can form a barrier on the skin like paraffin wax to prevent water loss. Uses:

• Cosmetics and Personal Care Products: Isohexadecane  is used as an emollient in moisturizers, body lotions and other skin care products to soften and soothe the skin. It serves as a solvent in makeup removers, facial cleansers and other cleansing products to dissolve other ingredients.
• Cleaning Agents: 2-Methylpentadecane is used in cleaners for metal and liquid crystal display surfaces, as well as in cleaners for home appliance metal parts, liquid crystal filters and electroplating.
• Other Applications: It is used in the production of pesticides (herbicides), insecticides, mosquito repellents and other agents. It can also be used as a viscosity reducer in the plastic processing process.
