1,2-Dichloroethane is colourless transparent liquid,also known as 1,1-Dichloroethane, Ethylene dichloride. Critical temperature 290℃, critical pressure 5. 36MPa. It can be miscible with ethanol, ether, benzene, chloroform, acetone and other organic solvents, and soluble in about 120 parts of water. Flammable, its vapour and air can form explosive mixtures, when exposed to open flame, high heat can cause combustion, or even explosion, and release toxic gases. Reacts with oxidising agents.

Applications：
- 99% 1,2-Dichloroethane is used as an intermediate in the manufacture of methyl chloroform, perchloroethylene, ethylene amines, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), sulfide compounds, vinyl chloride, and trichloroethane.
- As an additive in gasoline (used as a lead scavenger), pharmaceutical products, color film, and pesticides.
- As a solvent for rubber, tobacco extract, paint, printing inks, and varnish.
