What is Dimethoxymethane CAS 109-87-5?
Dimethoxymethane, also called methylal, is a colorless flammable liquid with a low boiling point, low viscosity and excellent dissolving power. It has a chloroform-like odor and a pungent taste. It is the dimethyl acetal of formaldehyde. Methylal is soluble in three parts water[clarification needed] and miscible with most common organic solvents.
Applications of ：
- Solvent: Dimethoxymethane has good solubility and volatility, and can be used as a solvent in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, inks, coatings and other industries.
- Cleaning agent: It has good solubility for grease and dirt, etc. and fast volatility, so it can be used in the production of cleaning agent, such as for cleaning electronic components, optical lenses, etc.
