What is Isobornyl Acrylate (IBOA)?
Isobornyl acrylate/ IBOA has a unique bridge ring structure, it is a kind of hardness and flexibility in the integration of the excellent functional materials, such as viscosity significantly lower than the corresponding methyl ester, in copolymer and homopolymer shows good gloss, hardness, scrub resistance, medium resistance and weatherability, and hygroscopicity obviously lower than that of methyl-methacrylate (mma) is widely used in the manufacture of high performance acrylic resin and acrylic ester emulsion, Preparation of light curing adhesives and water based adhesives.
Uses of IBOA:
1. Isobornyl Acrylate can be used in automotive coatings, high solid coatings, UV light-curing coatings, fiber optic coatings, modified powder coatings, etc. It can improve the adhesion, shrinkage, impact resistance and other properties of the coating, and reduce VOC emissions.
2. IBOA is a kind of monomer with excellent performance, which can be used in the manufacture of pressure-sensitive adhesive and other adhesives.
3. It can participate in the polymerization reaction, copolymerization with other monomers to form polymers, such as polyacrylic acid isobornyl ester.
4. IBOA Monomer is also used in the plastics, leather, paper and textile industries to improve the properties of related materials.
