Products Description
Methylal (Dimethoxymethane), molecular formula is C3H8O2, is an organic compound, colorless transparent liquid, slightly soluble in water, can be miscible in ethanol, ether and other organic solvents.
Applications:
1. Solvents: Because of its excellent solvency properties, methylal is frequently used in the preparation of coatings, inks, adhesives and other industries. In addition, it is used as a solvent in air fresheners, leather polishes and water-based paints.
2. Detergents: Due to its good degreasing ability and volatility, dimethoxymethane can be used as a substitute for F11 and F113 and chlorinated solvents, reducing emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and air pollution. Methylal is commonly used to remove oil and chemical residues from metal surfaces in mechanical, automotive, electronic and other industries.
3. Dye production: Dimethoxy methane is an important intermediate in the production of azo dyes, synthetic dyes, copper extraction dyes and other types of dyes.
4. Other applications: Methylal is also used as a plasticizer for resins, as a hypnotic, analgesic, spice, and as a solvent for the Grignard and Ripley reactions. In addition, it can also be used as paint thinner, automobile polish, insecticide, etc..
