3-Chloro-2-hydroxypropyltrimethyl ammonium chloride is colorless to light yellow transparent liquid, easily soluble in water, with good water solubility. It is stable at room temperature and normal pressure, but may undergo decomposition reaction under high temperature, strong alkaline or strong acidic conditions. CHPTAC can be used as a cationic modifier in the textile industry. It is also used in the paper industry, water treatment industry and so on.
Applications：
1. Textile industry: as a cationic modifier, it is used to improve the dyeing performance of natural fibers and synthetic fibers, and increase the dyeing rate and dyeing fastness.
2. Paper industry: added to pulp, (3-Chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)trimethylammonium chloride can enhance the wet and dry strength of paper.
3. Water treatment field: 3-Chloro-2-hydroxypropyltrimethyl ammonium chloride can be used as the intermediate of flocculant to prepare high performance cationic flocculant.
3. Pharmaceutical field: CHPTAC is used as surfactant or co-solvent in some pharmaceutical preparations, which helps the dissolution and absorption of drugs. In addition, it can be used to synthesize some biologically active compounds.
4. Cosmetic field: as conditioning agent and surfactant.
