What is Vinyl acetate CAS 108-05-4?
Vinyl acetate / Vinyl acetate monomer is an organic compound. The VAM molecular formula is C4H4O2. Its CAS is 108-05-4. It is considered slightly toxic. The clear, colorless liquid is slightly soluble in water and its vapors are heavier than air. VAM is primarily used as a monomer in the manufacture of polyvinyl acetate and polyvinyl alcohol. Short-term exposure has resulted in eye and upper respiratory irritation.
Applications：
- Production of polyvinyl acetate (PVAc): The most important use of vinyl acetate, PVAc can be used in the manufacture of adhesives, paints, inks, paper treatments and so on.
- Production of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA): Vinyl acetate by polymerisation, alcoholysis and other reactions can be produced PVA, PVA is widely used in textiles, paper, food, medicine and other fields.
- Production of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA): EVA has good flexibility, low temperature resistance, weather resistance, etc., widely used in plastic films, foam, hot melt adhesive and other fields.
