Products Description

What is Acetone CAS 67-64-1 ?

Acetone, also known as dimethyl ketone, is an organic compound with the formula C3H6O and is the simplest saturated ketone. It is a colorless transparent liquid with a slight aroma. Soluble in water and methanol, ethanol, ether, pyridine and other organic solvents. Flammable, volatile, chemical properties are more active. In the industry, it is mainly used as a solvent for explosives, plastics, rubber, fiber, leather, grease, spray painting and other industries, and can also be used as an important raw material for the synthesis of ketene, acetic anhydride, iodoform, polyisoprene rubber, methyl methacrylate, epoxy resin and other substances.

FAQ

Q1: What is the difference between ACS Grade Acetone and regular technical acetone?
A: ACS Grade meets strict American Chemical Society impurity limits for analytical use with guaranteed 99.5% minimum purity, full batch COA documentation, ultra-low moisture and heavy metals. Technical grade is lower purity, only suitable for non-critical industrial cleaning where trace contaminants do not impact results. Labs, pharma and QC facilities must select ACS grade.
Q2: Is Acetone CAS 67-64-1 highly flammable? What shipping rules apply?
A: Yes, classified UN1090 DOT Class 3 PG II flammable liquid with flash point 11°C. All shipments use UN-certified hazmat packaging, complete shipping papers and hazard labels per 49 CFR hazardous material regulations.

Q3: Can I get SDS and lot COA with my acetone order?
A: SDS is provided with every shipment.

Q4: What PPE do I need to handle ACS acetone safely?
A: Required gear includes nitrile chemical gloves, safety splash goggles, organic vapor respirator in low ventilation areas, flame-resistant clothing and anti-static closed footwear. Full PPE requirements are detailed in our SDS document.
