N-butanol, also known as 1-butanol, is an organic compound with chemical formula c4h10o. It is a colorless transparent liquid, slightly soluble in water, soluble in most organic solvents such as ethanol and diethyl ether. The largest use of 1-butanol is as an industrial intermediate, particularly for the manufacture of butyl acetate (itself an artificial flavorant and industrial solvent). It is a petrochemical derived from propylene.

1-butanol uses:
- Solvent: 1-Butanol chemical is an excellent solvent for many kinds of paints, which can effectively dissolve and disperse various components in paints and improve the uniformity and stability of paints.
- Plasticiser raw materials: Mainly used in the manufacture of phthalic acid, aliphatic dibasic acid and phosphoric acid n-butyl ester plasticizers, widely used in a variety of plastic and rubber products.
- Organic synthesis intermediates: 1-Butanol liquid is used in the production of butyl acrylate, butyl acetate, etc. It can also be used in the production of butyraldehyde, butyric acid, butylamine and butyl lactate.
- Extractant: n-Butanol is the extractant of oils and fats, drugs (such as antibiotics, hormones and vitamins) and spices.
- Others: Used in the pharmaceutical industry for the production of antibiotics, vitamins and other drugs, also used in the preparation of edible flavours, but also used as a reagent for chromatographic analysis and so on.
