What is Fenbendazole tablets?
Fenbendazole tablets is classified as a benzimidazole carbamate. It shows a broad spectrum of activity against both mature and immature nematodes and cestodes. Fenbendazole works by inhibiting glucose uptake. This drains a parasite's glycogen reserves, which leads to its death.
Fenbendazole is an anthelmintic used to treat gastrointestinal and respiratory worm infections in many animals such as cats, cattle, dogs, goats, horses, poultry, sheep and pigs. It is an effective treatment for parasites such as Brucella, blood mites, nematodes, Ostertagia, round nematodes, and lung worms such as fetal dinoflagellates.
How much fenbendazole can YOU give YOUR dog?
Fenbendazole kills many common parasitic nematodes that infect canines like whipworms, lungworms, giardia, roundworms, and certain species of tapeworms. This medication attacks the internal structure of these parasites, which renders them incapable of feeding or reproducing.
For Fenbendazole tablets, it is recommended that when given to dogs, a single dose of 2.5 to 5 tablets per 10kg body weight of the dog is recommended.
Attention is needed. Occasional vomiting has been seen in some dogs when taken internally, and there is one case report of various types of leukopenia in a dog after taking the drug. A single dose is often ineffective in dogs, which must be treated for 3 days.
