What is albendazole used for in sheep?

  • Treatment of gastrointestinal nematode (roundworm) infections:

Albendazole is effective against a wide range of gastrointestinal nematodes including Haemonchus contortus, Trichostrongylus spp.,Ostertagia spp , Nematodirus spp and Cooperia spp.

  • treatment of lung filarial infections

  • treatment of liver flukes:

Indicated for the prevention and treatment of liver flake schistosomiasis in sheep.

  • Treatment of tapeworm infection:

Albendazole has significant efficacy against tapeworm ( Moniezia spp.) infections in sheep.

How is Albendazole Oral Suspension used?

Albendazole Oral Suspension has been manufactured as a liquid, which is intended to be mixed with drinking water and administered orally, either directly into the mouth or mixed with a small amount of food; the suspension should be shaken well before use.

 

Precautions

Do NOT use Albendazole Oral Suspension for an animal that:

  • Has a known allergy or hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
  • Is in the first trimester of pregnancy.
  • Is a pigeon or a dove.

 

Treatment with this drug should be administered with caution for an animal that:

  • Has liver disease.
  • Is pregnant or lactating.
