What is 1-Butanol CAS 71-36-3?
1-Butanol, also known as n-butyl alcohol or n-butanol, is a primary alcohol with the chemical formula C4H10O and a linear structure. It is colourless transparent liquid with strong refractive property, easily soluble in ethanol, ether, hydrogen sulphide aqueous solution, slightly soluble in water. Its vapour and air can form explosive mixture. n-Butanol can cause combustion and explosion when it meets open fire and high heat. It will react violently with oxidising agent. N-Butanol can be widely used in chemical industry, medicine, food and even energy fields.
Applications：
- Chemical raw material: Used in the manufacture of plasticisers, and the production of butyraldehyde, butyric acid and other organic compounds.
- Solvent: N-butyl alcohol is used as solvent for paints, printing ink, etc. 1-Butanol liquid can also be used as dewaxing agent and for material separation.
