It has a sweet lily - like fragrance, with a mild - floral odor reminiscent of cyclamen and lily of the valley. It is slightly irritating to the skin and stable to alkali. Its density is 0.946 g/mL at 20°C, and its refractive index is 1.505. The boiling point is 150°C at 1 atm, and the melting point is 106 - 109°C.
