What is 3-Mercaptopropionic Acid CAS 107-96-0?
3-Mercaptopropionic Acid is a colorless to slightly yellow liquid, soluble in water and most organic solvents, with an irritating acidic odor. It can be used as a raw material or reaction intermediate in chemical synthesis; it can also be used as one of the corrosion inhibitors for metal surface treatment to prevent metal corrosion.
Uses：
Pharmaceutical Industry: 3-MPA is an intermediate for the drug Fenarol.
Plastics Industry: Used as a stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It can improve the thermal stability of PVC, especially suitable for transparent PVC products.
Chemical Synthesis: 3-Mercapto Propionic Acid is used as an antioxidant, catalyst and biochemical reagent.
Nanotechnology: 3-Mercaptopropionic Acid is used as a capping agent for nanoparticles such as CdTe quantum dots and can also modify the surface of iron oxide nanoparticles.
