What is Diethyl Carbonate DEC?
Diethyl Carbonate is slightly soluble in water but miscible with many organic solvents. It is widely used as a solvent in paints and inks, as a key component in the electrolyte of lithium-ion batteries, as a chemical intermediate in synthetic drugs and pesticides, and as a gasoline additive. It has relatively low toxicity but is flammable and therefore requires proper storage and use.
Uses：
1. Diethyl Carbonate is widely used as a solvent in the production of paints, adhesives and inks.
2. It is an important component of the electrolyte of lithium-ion batteries, which helps to improve the conductivity and stability of the electrolyte.
3. It is a key intermediate in organic synthesis.
4. In the fuel industry, diethyl carbonate 99.5% is used as a gasoline additive to increase the octane rating of gasoline and reduce harmful emissions.
