Dodecyltrimethylammonium Bromide is a quaternary ammonium compound with the appearance of a colorless to light yellow solid and a strong odor of quaternary ammonium salt and bromide. Dodecyl Trimethyl Ammonium Bromide has good solubility and decomposes into quaternary ammonium cations and bromide ions in water; DTAB is a surfactant, capable of reducing the surface tension of liquids.
Applications of Dodecyltrimethylammonium (bromide):
1.Biological Research: In cell biology and biochemical research, dodecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide is used to solubilize proteins and peptides, extract DNA, and lyse cells.
2.Surfactant Applications: Dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide is used as a surfactant in the oil field to reverse the wettability of oil-based drilling fluids. It can also be used in the preparation of emulsions, foams, and detergents.
4.It is used as an ion pair reagent in ion pair chromatography to separate and analyze anionic substances.
5.DTAB can be used as an antistatic agent to reduce static electricity on the surfaces of materials.
