Succinic anhydride is colorless to light yellow solid, with irritating odor; soluble in water, alcohol and ether and other polar solvents; has relatively high stability, but in the light, heat and oxygen and other conditions are prone to polymerization reaction. It can be used as an important intermediate in organic synthesis, commonly used in the synthesis of flexible polyester, coatings, plastics and resins and other compounds.
Applications:
1.Succinic anhydride is used as a modifier for alkyd resins and unsaturated polyester resins, which can improve the adhesion and water resistance of coatings.
2.In the Pharmaceutical Industry,it is used as a raw material for the production of some drugs, such as sulfonamides.
3.In the Field of Polymer Materials,it is used as a cross - linking agent for ion - exchange resins and can also be used to produce plasticizers.
