1.Pharmaceutical Industry: Dimethyl malonate is an important raw material for the production of piperazine - type drugs such as pipemidic acid. DMM reacts with ortho - formate and urea to produce pipemidic acid.
2.Flavor and Fragrance Industry: Dimethyl malonate is widely used in the synthesis of jasmonates, such as methyl dihydrojasmonate, which is an important intermediate for synthesizing flavors and fragrances.
3.Pesticide Industry: It is used as an intermediate for the synthesis of some pesticides.
