Tertiary Dodecyl Mercaptan (TDM) also known as tert-dodecylthiol, is an important compound. It has a 12-carbon alkyl chain with a thiol group on the tertiary carbon. It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid, insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents. TDM liquid is chemically reactive and is used as a chain transfer agent in polymer chemistry and as a lubricant additive in flavor or odor chemistry.
