What is Tetrabutyl Titanate CAS 5593-70-4?
Tetrabutyl Titanate (TNBT) is colorless to light yellow liquid with aromatic odor. It is soluble in alcohol and ether solvents, but insoluble in water. Tetra-n-butyl titanate has good stability and resistance to hydrolysis. It is often used as a precursor for catalysts. TNBT can be used in the synthesis of polymers, and it is also used in the preparation of materials such as ceramics, glass and coatings.
Applications of Tetra-n-butyl titanate TNBT:
1. Tetrabutyl titanate is an efficient catalyst for esterification and transesterification reactions, and is widely used in ester synthesis such as polyurethane, plasticizers and amide/polyamide generation.
2. Tetra-n-butyl titanate is an important precursor for the synthesis of titanium dioxide (TiO₂) nanoparticles, and the synthesized titanium dioxide nanoparticles can be used in dye-sensitized solar cells, photocatalysis and self-cleaning coatings.
3. Used in polyester paint, can be used with organic solvents to form a primer, improve the adhesion of paint and substrate.
4. Tetra-n-butyl orthotitanate (TNBT) can be used in adhesives to improve the bonding strength between different substrates such as resin, mineral, glass and metal.
