What is Florfenicol?

Florfenicol is a thiamphenicol derivative, which is similar in action to chloramphenicol. It works by inhibiting protein synthesis within the bacteria. Florfenicol displays a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity against gram-negative bacilli, gram-positive cocci, and atypical bacteria like Mycoplasma.

Florfenicol Injection is an antibiotic drug used to treat or prevent certain bacterial infections in livestock animals such as cows, goats, sheep and pigs. It is indicated for the treatment of illnesses such as bovine respiratory disease (including Pasteurella multocida) and bovine interdigital phlegmon (including Fusobacterium and Bacteroides).

What is florfenicol used for in pigs?

  • Respiratory tract infections: Flubenicol has remarkable efficacy against the main pathogenic bacteria (such as Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Bartonella henselae, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae) that cause respiratory tract diseases in pigs. It is commonly used in the treatment of pneumonia, bronchitis, pleuropneumonia and other respiratory diseases in pigs.
  • Digestive tract infections: Flubenicol can treat enteritis and diarrhea caused by bacteria such as E. coli and Salmonella in pigs, with good anti-infection effect.
  • Septicemia: florfenicol is also suitable for the treatment of septicemia caused by bacteria, which can quickly control the infection and reduce the symptoms.
  • Other bacterial infections: It is also effective in urinary system, skin and soft tissue infections.
