What is Sodium Tripolyphosphate (STPP)?
Sodium Tripolyphosphate is a white crystalline powder. It is soluble in water but insoluble in organic solvents. STPP is an excellent scale inhibitor with good complexing ability; it also has strong emulsifying and dispersing effects, which can disperse grease and suspended matter in water, thus enhancing the cleaning effect of detergents; Premium Sodium Triphosphate can react with corrosion inhibition on the metal surface to form a protective sodium phosphate corrosion inhibition film, preventing corrosion of the metal.
Applications：
1. STPP is an important auxiliary in synthetic detergents. It can chelate calcium, magnesium and other metal ions in water, soften hard water and improve the detergent's ability to remove dirt. At the same time, it also has dispersing, emulsifying and buffering effects, which help to prevent the redeposition of dirt.
2. In the food industry, sodium tripolyphosphate can be used as quality improver, water retention agent, metal chelating agent and so on. In meat processing, it can improve the water-holding property of meat and also prevent meat from discoloration; in beverage, it can prevent turbidity and precipitation caused by metal ions in beverage.
3. Used in the treatment of industrial circulating water, it can form stable complexes with calcium and magnesium ions in water to prevent the formation of scale and play the role of water softening and scale inhibition.
4. In the process of ceramics production, STPP can be used as a degumming agent to reduce the viscosity of slurry and improve the fluidity and stability of slurry.
