What is Potassium Methylsiliconate CAS 31795-24-1 ?
It is a colorless or light - yellow transparent liquid.It is an alkaline aqueous solution formed by the reaction of potassium hydroxide and methyl silicic acid. It can react with carbon dioxide in the air or other acidic substances to form active polymethyl silicic acid, producing waterproof properties. It is widely used in waterproof materials and chemical synthesis intermediates.
Applications of Potassium Methylsiliconate:
1. Low-fired clay products immediately after they have been made: e. g. roof tiles, facing bricks, floor tiles, flower pots.
2. Aerated concrete.
3. Gypsum and gypsum-based fiber boards.
4. Light fillers, such as perlite, vermiculite, and aerated concrete granules.
5. Insulating materials.
6. As a surface treatment Silway 714 is diluted to a concentration of 3 percent solids or less prior to application.
