What is Doramectin?

Doramectin Injection is an antiparasitic drug used to treat or prevent certain parasitic infections in animals like cows, goats, sheep, and pigs. It is a potent, highly active drug that can effectively treat a wide range of parasites, like roundworms, lungworms, eyeworms, grubs, sucking lice, and mange mites.

Doramectin originates from a singular microorganism discovered in Japanese soil. It is widely utilized in both human and animal healthcare. Doramectin is recognized for its efficacy in eliminating a broad spectrum of internal and external parasites in commercial livestock and companion animals.

Can you use Doramectin on pigs?

Doramectin can treat and control internal and external parasitic infections in pigs.

 

Internal parasites:

  • Gastrointestinal nematodes: Dolamectin has a good expulsion effect on gastrointestinal parasites (e.g. roundworms, whipworms and hookworms) in pigs.
  • Lung nematodes: to control respiratory diseases caused by lung nematodes.

 

External parasites:

  • Scabies mites: commonly used to treat and prevent scabies mites in pigs.
  • Lice and ticks: effectively repel lice and ticks on the body surface.

 

Usage and dosage of Doramectin injection for pigs

For intramuscular injection, cattle/swine: 1ml per 16.5kg body weight.
 

Precautions:

  1. Dormancy period: the relevant dormancy period, usually 35 days for pigs, should be observed before slaughter.
  2. CAUTION: Avoid use in pregnant and lactating sows unless expressly advised by a veterinarian.
  3. SAFETY: Excessive use may provoke toxic reactions and the recommended dosage should be strictly followed.
