What is Tylosin Tartrate?

Tylosin Tartrate is a macrolide antibiotic isolated from Streptomyces fradiae. It is a mixture of tylosin A, B, C and D tartrate and is effective against Gram-positive bacteria and mycoplasmas. It has been used in studies of protein synthesis, bovine abscess prophylaxis, and mycoplasma infections.

Macrolide antibiotics consist of a macrolide ring and one or more deoxy sugars. They inhibit bacterial protein synthesis by irreversibly binding to the P site of the 50s ribosome, preventing peptide bond formation and translocation.

How tylosin tartrate works

Tylosin Tartrate achieves the effect of bacterial inhibition by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial proteins. Its main target is the bacterial ribosome, specifically, Tylosin can bind to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosome, preventing the transfer RNA (tRNA) from binding to the ribosome, thus inhibiting the extension of peptide chains and the synthesis of new proteins. Since proteins are essential for bacterial growth and reproduction, this inhibition is effective in preventing bacterial proliferation and thus controlling the infection.

What is Tylosin Tartrate treatment?

1.Mycoplasma pneumonia in swine: respiratory diseases caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae are common infectious diseases in swine herds, and tylosin has good therapeutic effects on this type of pathogen.

2.Chronic respiratory diseases of poultry: Tylenol tartrate has remarkable therapeutic effect on chronic respiratory diseases of poultry, such as infections caused by Mycoplasma avium, which helps to control the disease and reduce production losses.

3.Infectious diseases in cattle: Tylosin is also widely used for respiratory infections in cattle, especially those caused by Mycoplasma or sensitive Gram-positive bacteria.

What is the withdrawal period for Tylosin Tartrate ?

The withdrawal period is 21 days for cattle and 14 days for swine. Tylosin Tartrate is not recommended for use in lactating dairy cattle. Do not use in calves to be slaughtered for veal.

This antibiotic is very lipophilic and tends to stay in milk for a very long time in low concentrations. Withdrawal time depends on the geolocation.

Conclusion
Tylosin Tartrate is a widely used antibiotic for livestock treatment, especially in infections caused by Mycoplasma and Gram-positive bacteria with significant efficacy. Proper use of this drug can effectively control animal diseases and promote the improvement of production efficiency.
