What worms does levamisole treat in veterinary?
Levamisole is commonly used in veterinary medicine to treat a wide range of parasitic worms in animals, particularly gastrointestinal and lungworms. It is effective against several nematodes in cattle, sheep, goats, and swine. In cattle and sheep, levamisole targets stomach worms such as Haemonchus, Trichostrongylus, and Ostertagia species, as well as intestinal worms like Cooperia, Nematodirus, and Oesophagostomum species. It also works against lungworms like Dictyocaulus viviparus.
Levamisole is effective against a range of nematodes (roundworms) but not against all types of parasites, such as tapeworms or trematodes.
