What is Sodium Ligninsulfonate?
Sodium lignosulfonate (SLS), is an anionic surfactant and natural polymer compound. It is a yellow to brown powder; it is soluble in water, and the aqueous solution is brown to black; it is insoluble in common organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone.
Applications of Lignosulfonic acid sodium salt/sLS:
1. Used as concrete water reducing agent, it can improve the fluidity and plasticity of cement and concrete.
2. Sodium ligninsulfonate is an excellent anionic surfactant, which can be used as dispersant and flocculant. It can also be used in industrial water treatment to prevent scaling and corrosion.
3. Widely used in oilfield chemicals, such as surfactants for tertiary oil recovery, drilling fluid treatment agents and water plugging agents.
4. Lignosulfonic acid sodium salt is a basic renewable material for synthesizing polymer materials, resins and adhesives.
5. SLS can be blended with polymer materials such as PVC, PE and PVA to improve the stability, strength and photolysis resistance of the materials. It is also used as a rubber reinforcement to improve the mechanical properties of rubber.
6. Used as pesticide dispersant, wetting agent, complexing agent and fertilizer enhancer in agriculture.
